YEAST: Ardennes HOPS: Equanot, Tettnang MALT: 2-Row, Biscuit, Munich, Chateau Special, Crystal Light Another beer utilizing the Ardennes strain of yeast, this earthy, spicy beer shows what a European ale would have tasted like before many of the fruity and floral varietals of hops became as readily available as they are today. Caramel tones dominate the malt flavour profile, while the hops allow for a floral earthy finish to balance the sweetness of the malt. Near the end of the First World War, the Newfoundland Regiment fought alongside Allied forces to push back German advances across Europe. The One Hundred Days Offensive consisted of a series of unanswered Allied victories which played a large part in bringing about a conclusion to the Great War. Near the location where the Regiment crossed the River Lys as part of their final offensive of the war is a familiar caribou statue. Here, in the Belgian village of Courtrai, stands an enduring symbol of our province’s bravery.
