The back parking lot here in Pawtucket at our new brewery at The Guild used to be the site of the Bancroft Tennis Co. Starting in 1882 they produced state of the art wooden tennis raquets that were used by amateur and professional players all over the globe. Unfortunately with the advent of steel, aluminum and eventually carbon fiber raquets, wooden raquets fell out of favor and Bancroft stop production in the 1980’s.
