Seven Mules is our version of a summer Barleywine, with a high alcohol content and a light color and body. Seven Mules is named after the offensive linemen on Notre Dame’s 1924 football team that featured the Four Horsemen. Like its namesake, Seven Mules will kick your ass if you don’t treat it with respect.

Seven mules color is straw (a little darker than a pilsner) with a little head that does not give any hint of what is to come. The aroma is benign with some malt aroma and no hop aroma. The initial taste impression is a sweet maltiness that is reminiscent of sugar candy. The alcohol is in the background enticing one to enjoy another taste. There is some dryness to the beer but not much hop flavor. After about the third swallow the alochol warmness starts to make this one fine experience. The brewery only allows three servings per patron for good reason. Once this beer starts flowing then it is difficult to put down. Make sure you have a designated driver.

I loved this brew. It definately "Kicked my ass" just like the label on the bottle read. The aroma is kind of musty actually, which i didnt mind. Sweet fermented aromas surrounded by malts. Each sip finishes somewhat tangy with alcohol, brown sugar and licorice in the taste. Appearance is copper colour with a alcohol aroma in the off white head.
