Not sure of the age on this buckwheat wine. Hop bitterness is there but the flavor seems weird. Really nice malty whaety spicy backbone. Hops are rather dull, but then open up a little eventually to provide a pleasant fruitiness. Not as good as I was hoping, but I'd try a fresh one again in a heartbeat.

Oh dear god!!! There is a Mikkeller tap take over @ the Underground and I stumbled upon it!!! THREE FLOYDES!!!!!! YES PLEASE!!!! Buckwheat Wine….. WTF is that….YES PLEASE!!!! Big sweetness in the nose and taste, almost but not honey. Why am I on a lunch with coworkers? WHY!!! I want to drink everything here and give a better review. Beer has a big bitterness that sneaks up on you, pine hoppiness, honey sweetness. Way milder then I was expecting but that might be because this was poured at an almost sub-zero temperature. Hitting a generic spice, mild burnt sugar. NO I’m not texting my wife, I’m taking beer notes now fuck off (Brad says in his head as his boss razzes him). Excellent beer that didn’t live up to the hype I created in my own head after seeing it on the menu………. Finished of lunch with a 1oz of Mikkeller Black…… good times.

got a bottle in a trade with Sparky but tasted this at my monthly meeting before i got a chance to open my bottle .. . pours a deep purple brown .. light head, medium spotty lacing .. plum, deep malts, and a solid bitterness .. . damn tasty, i won't be waiting long to open my bottle .. . . the human torch was denied a bank loan..

I had this beer at Mikkeller Bar in Copenhagen, DK. This beer was very good and is another fantastic collaboration with Three Floyds. I am not a big fan of barleywines but this was wonderful - it was warming and perfect for the cold February winter.

On tap at Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. Amber colour, moderate head, slightly off-white. Lovely aroma of fruity and resinous American hops, malts in the background. Excellent and well balanced flavour, distinct American hops throughout, but not too extreme. There is a sufficient malty backbone to support the hops. Not too sweet. Jolly good!
