A ruddy brown colored beer with a big frothy textured off white head rising robustly above. Great hang time. Settles eventually into a thick ringlet and impressive film. Big profile of alcohol, fruit, molassess. Appropriately intense. Full bodied.

newer batch coming in at 18.5%. i saw a pic of batch one and this ain't the same colors either. poured the color of a slightly darker malt liquor. smell is sweet, fruity, phenol, with a dose of herbal hops at the end. unlike anything i've ever had. no real barleywine characteristics in the look, smell, or taste, but a cool, unique beer. reminds me more of a muscat or ice wine than beer. alcohol becomes apparent as it warms, but it's nowhere near as hot as Mikkeller Black, their next strongest beer. Worth a shot just for the experience.

Draught@CPH BeerFest2010. Amber colour, small white head. Aroma is fruits, wood and some mild yeast, alcohol and gluelike sweetness. Flavour is fruits, alcohol, a bit gluelike sweet. A bit unbalanced, and not all too pleasant.

This is sooooooooo good, my god how is this not the best thing on the planet!!!! Brew appears dark ruby brown, it somehow almost looks purple complete with a thin skiff floating on top but with 17% alcohol what ells should expect. WOW is this thick so very thick feeling it like the most yummy cough syrup ever. Sweet hops and some astringent are in the nose but not unpleasant. This taste phenomenal the 17% is completely hidden its smooth warm and yummy. Hops seem to go from a peach to grape fruit. Just hit some almond extract. All this seems to be built on this sweet plum/fig combo. Great brew.

Pours out in a cloudy ruby brown colour with a small bubbly off-white head. Huge aroma of port, treacle, cookies, caramel, mango, apricots, resin, white pepper and alcohol. Full-bodied with notes of caramel, fudge, burnt sugar, treacle, cookies and port with big sweaty hop notes of resin, red grapefruit and pine. Thick, thick body. Long warming finish of port, resin, caramel and apricots. Feels really potent but the alcohol is well-masked.
