Stout Brewed with Coffee and Aged in Bourbon Barrels: Breakfast is the most important meal of the day and to beer geeks, like mikkeller, a hearty, complex stout is the tastiest way to begin the day. The unique combination of an oat and coffee stout creates an intense, full-bodied beer which is surprisingly balanced and full of new taste adventures with every sip.

Barrel Aged Breakfast Bourbon (US Version 7.5%) Sampled on 1/28/2012. This Imperial Stout pours an eclipse black color from a 500ml bottle. Medium sized tan foamy head, with decent lacing and nice retention. The aroma is chocolate, coffee, oak and bourbon. A medium to full bodied Imperial Stout. The malts are chocolate, coffee and sweet. The hops are herbal and earthy. Decent carbonation. Hints of wood and oak. The bourbon flavors are somewhat subdued, but intensify as the beer warms. Nice sipping beer. Hint of bourbon, oak and wood at the finish. Mouthfeel is full and round. Finish is clean and smooth. Aftertaste is slightly bitter.

the barreling here is pretty subtle...big roasted coffee, oats, are the stars here...not really justified at $6 more than breakfast. not really better, but i'm glad i tried it once.

Really goood but pretty dissapointing. After many of the other mikkeller beers that I have had before, I was expecting amazing uniqueness, but instead its just a really lovely stout. Its nice. Oats and coffe are there, lovely chocolate. Really really really silky. Like really. The interesting thing about it is how beautifully medium bodied the beer is. There is a remarkable lack of any "burnt" character. I dont know if this happens all the time but the head seems to have tiger swirls. Slight mango paste aroma in the burp. Yum yum yum. Creamy smooth lovely but really not the best stout ever and not unique. I want to give it higher numbers but I can't.
