La St-Ambroise blonde barleywine ou vin d’orge est une ale extra forte brassée à partir de trois variétés de malts spéciaux et houblonnée avec trois houblons typiquement anglais qui, une fois assemblés, produisent de belles notes florales et légèrement épicées. Finalement la mise en barils de chêne ayant contenu du bourbon, en plus d’agir sur la couleur, ajoute à ce chef-d’oeuvre de subtiles saveurs de whiskey, de vanille et de noix de coco. Ingrédients : Eau filtrée, malt d’orge à 2 rangs, Maris Otter Malt, malt Vienna et houblons.

Looks almost clean, amber with golden highlights, but some very tiny particles are all-over. Frothy warm cap, decent retention and some light lacing. Aromas are not my favourites, but still well-done with plum over caramel, which gives me a feeling of wet socks from someone that has fungus. OK, it's not that bad really. Hints of vanilla and alcohol. Looks like this will be really sweet, but surprisingly, quite alright to go down. Again, lots of fruits, darker one especially with the hops that cut the sweetness. Not syrupy thankfully, with the vanilla oak notes in the finish. If you like a slightly hoppier Barleywine, this is quite good overall.
