sampled 10/16/09. 550ml bottle with Mitch. pours a dark brown color with reddish highlights, no head at all. aroma is fruity, oaky, some chocolate. taste is fruity, oaky, tart, tannins. i like the tartness here, not overpowering the rest of the beer. i'd love to revisit this with a little age on it. body is medium. mouthfeel is bit oily. lingering tart aftertaste.

Delectable ale with sweet filling malts, fruity overtones and a hearty dash of sour funk. Translucent brown body with a filmy tan head and spots of lacing here and there. Tart fruits, bready malt and some roasted aromas are combined wonderfully. Nice sipping beer, full bodied and wonderfully sour to the taste buds. Flavors mirror the aroma, but a good dose of wood, candy and vanilla come forward as well.

Draft, City Beer Store. The beer looked quite viscous and rich. It’s dark brown with a tight beige cap. The aroma is complex and has considerable depth, but the notes don’t seem to work in concert. It’s not really a mess, but I imagine some of the elements are better than the whole. There’s a lot of fruitiness, some oak, lots of candy and sugary aromas, and a shade of sour. The flavor is a tad sweet but otherwise good. Mouthfeel gets a bit sticky, and the finish doesn’t quite seem right. Good but disappointing.

Sampled on 10/16/2009. This American Strong Ale pours a dark brown color with nice ruby highlights from a 550ml bottle. Little to no head. The aroma is fruity, wood, some chocolate. A medium bodied American Strong Ale. The malts are fruity and tart, The hops are floral. Rally kind of wine like at the moment, lots of wood and tannin flavors mixed with the fruity and chocolate. It starts fruity and tart and goes sweeter. Nice tartness that last throughout the taste. Nice beer despite lack of carbonation, Very nice despite it still being a little young. Very smooth. Mouthfeel is full and round. Finish is clean and smooth. Aftertaste is tart.
