Bottle from heybeerman. Deep amber pour, tall head, nice lacing. Big malty and slightly nutty aroma and initial flavor, nicely hopped, earthy and rich. Nice and better as it warms just a bit. The Wisconsin Beer Mafia never disappoints; Thanks Greg!

Furnished by heybeerman in a recent shipment. A medley of styles seemingly go into this recipe pulling inspiration from brown ale, pale ale, and perhaps even strong/old ale. Amber~brown color with a tan head and streaky lacing. Sweet malt content followed closely by a very firm bitterness. Nuts, cereal, and perhaps a hearty dose of Munich malt. A potpourri of fading floral hops. A bit jumbled at times, and likely much better fresh. I like the melding of flavors/styles that are involved within this beer much more than the score may indicate.

Bready aroma, light brown or amber in the glass with a slightly off-white head. The aroma and immediate flavor seem typical for a brown, but then the bittering hops kick in. The high gravity lends to a full mouthfeel but it's not over done. I almost passed this one up the first time as I'm typically less interested in a brown ale, but this beer has much more going for it.

They bill this beer as a nut brown but it has way too much mouthfeel and hoppy flavor to call it that. This is more of a black IPA. It does have the roasty mild flavor of a brown but with tons of hops, very well done and very complex.
