Bottled (thanks omhper). Very deep rubyish amber colour, small brown head. Aroma is quite big on the malts, liquorice, alcohol and some wooden notes. Flavour is plum, ashes, roasted malts, alcohol, wood and some vanilla.

Had the 2009 edition. Aroma is not strong, but it is a bit smoky and has hints of coffee and molasses. It pours an opaque dark chocolate brown with a fairly thick pale tan head. Rich flavor is a pleasant surprise after the wan aroma - it is chocolaty with tones of molasses and nutty, toffee and coffee hints. There is a whisper of sweetness and a sharp alcohol bite. Texture is silky smooth yet fizzy and edgy. A good one.

Mellow aroma consisting primarily of rich chocolate and stale fruit. Some roasted notes as well as an underlying nuttiness. Opaque dark body with a thin filmy head and solid lacing, looks thick and rich. Hearty mouthfeel that is viscous and smooth, good malty body and rather balanced. Layers of dark fruit flavors with plenty of chocolate and roasted malts. Coffee, nuts and and underlying woodiness. It was solid, but not worth the money to ever revisit.

This beer poured a browinsh to almost black appearance with a beige head. The aroma contains some oak, milk chocolate, and coffee. The flavor is quite sweet with loads of chocolate and only a hint of burbon. Some bitterness and alcohol in the finish. Overall this one isn’t running with the BA Speedways and Oaked Yetis of the world, however it is still a good beer.

Pours out in a opaque black colour with a thick pale brown head. Black chocolate, black coffee, oak, vanilla, figs, dried cherries, pepper and alcohol in the aroma. Full-bodied with notes of burnt malts, black chocolate, wet wood, dades, cherries, pepper and alcohol. Full chewy mouthfeel. Long warming finish of oak, pepper, black coffee and cherries.

Pours black with a thin dark tan head. Aroma of rum, vanilla, charcoal, chocolate, and raisin. Flavor starts with vanilla and espresso, burnt chocolate and raisins follow, before finishing out with rum, anise, and black pepper. A bit hot in the finish, and maybe a little too much oakiness going, but it's pretty decent overall.

first beer of the EXCURSION :

Pours a dark brown colour .-.

the head is elite, the lacing even more so! .-.

smell is lacking for 1.an imperial stout and 2. an oak aged brew .-.

Mouthfeel is light light and non overpowering ( or thin, depending on who you are) but I would basically call it smooth .-.

Taste ... first thing that really hits you is the (as fore mentioned) lightness to this brew-- fore one, the alcohol is amazingly hidden (one of the most in any brew i have ever come by) The oak flavour is also very subtle, good for some, but not really for me.

Overall, A very nice beer that is quite people friendly but for the price ($12) i can get a sixer of storm king and have some left over... .-.

Bottle. Poured a blackish-brown color with a medium light-brown head. Pleasant but faint aroma of wood, malt, and chocolate. Excellent full mouthfeel. Flavor is nice, with strong dark malt and oak tones and a dark chocolate finish. Smooth beer. I wasn't that excited about this, but a nice offering from Left Hand.
