Small ball at its finest, a squeeze play is a sacrifice bunt that gives the runner on third a scoring opportunity. Our Squeeze Play kettle sour is packed with black currant purée. Deep purple in colour, juicy and quenching, this sour ale is the perfect summer refresher.

The beer pours a translucent ruby red with a thin pink film for a cap. The aroma is tart fruit including cherries, apples, and raspberries with hints of grass, and herbal hops. The mouthfeel is thin to medium bodied with average carbonation. I’m not sure what beer the other reviewers had, but the contents of my can are very tart, so tart it actually tastes like vinegar with weak notes of black currant. I’m not impressed. -

Small can from LCBO. Pours a big foamy bubbly ruby coloured head that dissipates pretty quickly and has a slightly clear reddish appearance. Moderate carbonation. Aromas of berries, mostly the black currants, some notes of cherries and raspberries. Flavours are sweet with more of the black currant coming through at the top with some more notes of various berries. Also very tarty. Quite a lot of sourness on the palate.

Can that pours a clean ruby red with a pink head that dissipates quickly leaving a tiny ring around the collar. Fruity nose with the black currants and hints of apples and other berries. Ok, not super sour tasting. The black currants are there. Gets hazier at last pour. Hints of rusty water lingers. Not too bad with decent fruitiness.
