We started with loads of roasted, black patent, caramel and other specialty malts, added over two gallons of dark VT maple syrup per bbl. then carefully aged this beauty in a freshly emptied American Oak bourbon barrel. Rich and decadent by nature, this beer will continue to mature and improve for many months. Cellar aging at 50-55F is recommended! Bottled in January 2011. 11% alc./vol.

they'll end up scoring the same, but i'd pick the base beer 6-7 times out of ten over this one. Classic case of gaining delicious bourbony goodness and losing complexity. Depends what you are in the mood for. The aroma of this beer is fantastic. The maple is still subtle, and the bourbon, while not hot, overpowers many of the subtleties that made the base stout so good. this beer still rocks, just in a different way. the bourbon used reminded me of dark intrique.

A medley of sweet maple syrup, woody bourbon, and chewy dark malts intertwined within one another. Full bodied, slick and drinkable. Midnight black body with a medium sized brown head and ample lacing. A fine treat fo shizzle.
