An newer and often overlooked American strong ale style, First Fleet Wheatwine pours with an amber straw color and fluffy white head. With a tropical fruit and citrus aroma, the mouthfeel is fluffy and a tad creamy with lots of melon, bread and nougat flavors up front balanced by a clean hop bite. A warming, but not boozy, alcohol sensation provides the finish.

Sampled at the brewery on 3/22/2013. This wheatwine pours a medium orange gold color from the tap. Medium sized white foamy head. The aroma is fruity, sweet, wheat, and slightly hoppy. A medium to full bodied wheatwine. The malts are fruity and sweet, wheat. The hops are grapefruity, floral and piney. Decent carbonation. Nice melon/tropical flavors. Hides the alcohol fairly well. A touch of alcohol at the finish. Mouthfeel is full and round. Finish is clean and smooth. Aftertaste is slightly bitter.
