The beer poured a translucent pale gold with a short lived bubbly head, and mild effervescence. The aroma was floral hops, and weak light fruit. The mouthfeel was medium bodied with mild carbonation. The flavour was stale and sour, almost had the taste of a musky cider. Not a beer I would recommend to people who can have gluten.

Bottle. Colour - light gold colour, very clear, thin white cap that mimics soda pop retention. Aroma - sour grains, musty hops, spices. Mouthfeel - thin bodied, slight carbonation. Flavour - bland grains, slight spicy bitterness. I long to find a gluten free beer that tastes decent

Pours a clear, light yellow with small rocky white head after a firm pour, which dissipates quickly leaving minimal lacing. The aroma is mild fruity aroma, with a hint of alcohol. The taste is a sweet mild maltiness, with a hint of rice. It is incredibly sweet and drinkable. The mouthfeel is light body, strong carbonation.

I don't know what Sorghum is admittedly, but I really liked this beer. Personally I found it to smell and even taste oranges. The body was a little cloying and once I switched from bottle to glass I found it to have this kinda funky cheese odor but fortunately that dissipated quickly. It also had a bright gold colour with a really nice cap.

Poured a clear, light golden yellow. Quite noisy at first, but quieted down. Small head, negligible lacing. Thin mouthfeel and not a lot of flavour. What flavour there was was tart and a bit sour. Not terrible but nothing exciting if you are not restricted to gluten-free.

so far...8 lakefront beers and a 2.6-2.7 average. nothing above a 3. so...not gonna buy any more at any rate. But this was a freebie. And a bland one at that. Muddled sweetish beer with little hop presence or anything else. nothing too offensive but VERY light, simple and boring.

I sometimes have to ask myself..............where are all the good Wisconsin beers? This isn't one of them. Not much colour and not much head. The flavour is quite watery with hints of malt and hops. I didn't notice a whole lot of flavour difference between this and bad swill.

This poured a yellow color with a white head. The aroma is lemons, dishwashing detergent, and butter? The flavor consists of oversalted rice, buttered popcorn, and lysol. You know when you spray lysol and some of the mist gets in your mouth. This was hard to finish. If I had gluten allergies I would drink wine and skip this torture.

Sampled on 6/16/2010. This specialty grain beer pours a very light gold color from a 12oz bottle. Small to medium sized white foamy head. The aroma is grainy and sweet, kind of apple juice like. A medium to light bodied specialty grain ale. The sorghum, no malts here, are semi sweet, yet there is a kind of sour/tartness here as well. The hops are floral. It really kind of weird and strange tasting and NOT in a good way. Good carbonation. I realize the need for a gluten free beer, but I am really glad I don’t have to drink them all the time. Mouthfeel is full. Finish is clean and crisp. Aftertaste is slightly tart.

Bland, lightly sour, crisp, a bit odd. New Grist Sorghum is somewhat odd and quite bland but not altogether bad. I’ve had a few gluten free beers now, and this one ranks just above Redbridge for me, pretty low overall. St. Peter’s is still my pick. Anyway, this beer is a very light, washed-out yellow color with minimal head. The aroma is very light, a bit of apple and rice. The flavor goes quickly with very little aftertaste. It’s quite watered down, and the rice keeps it crisp, but there’s really not a lot to love or hate. There’s a sour note in the finish. It tastes smaller than its 5% abv. It’s probably the furthest from normal, malted barley beer of any gluten free beer that I’ve had, but it doesn’t have the cheap, low quality characteristics of Redbridge. All in all, even though it’s not really bad, this is a beer that’s probably only going to be enjoyed by the gluten sensitive crowd.
