“Derailleur” is a special bière-de-garde (“beer for keeping”) brewed as a commemorative race ale for the 2010 Amgen Tour of California. Named after a bicycle’s gear-changing mechanism, this ale is malty, smooth with a subtle apple finish that comes from aging in French Sauvignon Blanc barrels from local Malibu’s Semler Vineyard’s, and balanced with noticeable earthy hop character.
