This was a 1996 vintage that I was really looking forward to opening. Perhaps my hands were shaking because I almost dropped the bottle, but I didn't catch it in time to stop it from breaking one of my Chimay goblets.
I pulled out a second Chimay goblet and poured forth the dark orange brew. It seemed to be dying to get out as the head was a little too frothy. It yielded a sweet malty aroma with hints of caramel. The taste was very sweet throughout and into the finish. Need to try this one again. -

Orange color with a head that wasnt more than a few bubbles. Very sweet, sticky flavor of malt with a light bitterness. It looks flat and may be a bit oxidized but still good.

1998... Poured a cloudy copper color with no head or lacing. Fruity, vinous, lightly hopped and also lightly musty aroma. Taste was sweet and chewy malts, peppercorn, light hops, and alcohol. A nice barleywine.
