This variation on an imperial oatmeal stout, brewed in collaboration with Mikkeller, contains a healthy dose of authentic Kopi Luwak coffee (a.k.a. “weasel coffee”), along with other Vietnamese coffees, ground chipotle pepper. and a touch of smoked malt.

Thw brew appears an inky oil black. A rough pour yields a couple big bubbles. The bubbles fade and hang in a thin pattern around the edge of the glass. Some spotty lace sticking to the glass. The aroma is all about the coffee. It is earthy and roasty with a fresh coffee scent. Chocolate, tobacco and leather mingle in with the coffee quality. A bit of alcohol emerges as it warms. The taste is roasty, earthy coffee flavoring. Tobacco and leather blend very well into the earthen coffee character. There is a long lingering aftertaste of bitter baker's chocolate and a spice that warms the throat on the back end. Mouthfeel was a bit lackluster and watery in feel without enough carbonation. Overall it was a nice beer, worth a try if you like coffee, and chipotle.
