(Bottle) - Pouring out of the bottle seems thick. Small tan head. Prominent aroma of soy sauce. Thick mouthfeel. Burnt bitterness in the flavor. Not a pronounced hop character. Perhaps some dark raisin and black currant. But, pretty dry overall. Bitterness lingers on the palate for quite some time.

Bottle thanks to jsquire: Sweet chocolate nose. Poured a black with beige head. Roasty malty, light chocolate, walnut, and some woodsiness.

Pours inky dark void with mocha head. The aroma is mostly roasty malts, rich coffee goodness, burnt malts, black strap molasses and dark chocolate. The taste is smooth rich and roasty. I get dark chocolate, dark roasted malts, burnt malts and sweet yet singed black strap molasses. Just below those notes lurks the likes of dark roasted coffee, some mild oak notes and a thin river of sweet rum. Lovely

Pours opaque coffee brown with a light tan head. Aroma offers roast malt, molasses, nutty and chocolate notes. Flavor delivers roast malt, nutty, chocolate and subtle molasses notes. Mouthfeel features OK body and lively fizz. Gotta love it - since I was named for another love goddess: Freya.

pours a nice black color with the head of the beer was a burnt tan that rapidly dissolved with no lacing. The aroma is milk chocolate, cocoa. All this sweetness supports a black walnut nuttiness. Plenty of figs and dates in the aroma. The taste has darkly roasted malt, cocoa, milk chocolate and semi sweet chocolate. Wrapped up in all this fudge goodness is loads of walnut flavors, figs and dates along with a bit of burnt sugar. A light amount of tartness finishes the beers flavor. The mouth feel is a little thinner than I expected, carbonation is low. No sign of alcohol heat. Must point out not a stout person.

The walnuts add a wonderful dimension to this already deep stout. A lot of roasted malt heavy on the chocolate and nuts with minor traces of coffee and baked goods. Full bodied, thick, and so silky smooth it's wonderful.

Had a one year old bottle for my first Jackie O's beer, and damn, was it impressive. HUGE body, almost chewy...just the way I like em. Flavor and aroma aggressively hopped (still) with a ton of roasted malt and walnuts, and a background of coffee and chocolate. Smooth finish. I like the fairly unique twist on a classic impy w/the nuttiness. I'd LOVE to try the barreled version of this and might just start being more aggressive in my searching out of Jackie O's.
