After having the Irondale chocolate stout and being completely and utterly underwhelmed by it, I had no real high hopes in this being a winner....and it wasn't. Old wet cardboard in the aroma, swirling in some light caramel malts and a bit of American cheese. The oxidized malts just whomped on anything that may resemble freshness. Flavor was unfocused and messy. It really reminded me of a brewer using brown sugar in the brewing process, as it gives off (to me) a funky bitter/molasses flavor that's not pleasant at all. Earthy and wet leaves with a flabby finish.
