You know the expression, "A Velvet Glove and an Iron Fist"? It was coined to refer to a regime that used a soft exterior to hide its punishingly unforgiving nature. This seems an apt description for our Velvet Glove. Its placid appearance and unparalleled smoothness hide the truth; this is one fiendishly strong stout. Rich, chocolaty espresso dominates the flavor profile, with a velvety smooth texture that will haunt your senses.

Aroma: 10 | Appearance: 9 | Mouthfeel: 9 | Flavor: 9 | Overall: 9
Pours opaque sable with a thick and fine-bubbled tan head. Aroma delivers firm chocolate, roast malt, coffee and toasted woody hops with a hint of molasses. Flavor offers all of the above, though less coffee and more molasses, and tossing in a snippet of toffee. Firm, smooth body features good fizz and a mocha, woody finish. Wear this velvet glove!

nice full feel. a little weird sweetness in the flavor and quite complex...good mix of hops, dark fruit, coffee, chocolate, molasses. a little rough around the edges, but nice. would do well with age, or barreling. on tap, their best, but lacking for the style.

Decent overall with a wonderful mouth feel, but the aroma and flavor just didn't seem up to par with many other traditional Imperial Stouts. All of the usual suspects are there (roast malt, chocolate, coffee) but nothing really stands out.
