The Vanishing Point series is our apex - the point at which the skills and passion of our brewers converge with our ambitions to create exceptional beers that define us as a premium Scottish craft brewery. Every ingredient is hand selected, the absolute best we can get, and chosen with only one thing in mind; flavour. VP03 is the third release in the series; a 11% Imperial Stout matured in first fill bourbon barrels for 420 days. The time in barrel has mellowed the beer and added an even greater depth of character and complexity of flavour. A serious beer for serious fans of beer.

The beer pours a translucent dark brown with black edges and a huge generous creamy light brown cap. Lacing is generous down the glass. The aroma is roasted malt, dark chocolate, nuts, vanilla, and weak soy sauce hits. The mouthfeel is medium to full bodied with average carbonation. The flavour is bourbon and wood with some hints of chocolate and cold pressed coffee in the background. The discernable imperial stout notes are warming and tasty, but the bourbon and wood are overpowering.
