Blood Red Sky sets a scene. Warm Caribbean sand, flickering candles, cold beer and anticipation of the night to come. From this place came the inspiration for this brew. Jamaican rum barrels meet Scottish red beer in an explosion of cool, spicy rum notes, vanilla and rich fruit. We brew Blood Red Sky using our unique barrel into beer method, turning the traditional beer into barrel process on its head without losing any of the wonderful flavours and aromas from the barrel.

Pours clear mahogany with a thick parchment head. Aroma presents cherry, woody, rum and toasted malt notes. Flavor features toasted malt, woody, rum, dark fruit, a hint of sweet vanilla. Texture delivers fair body and fizz. Bloody good.

Picked up a 6 pack at LCBO. Pours a fairly big frothy tan head and has a dark amber coppery appearance. Moderate carbonation. Big thick dirty lacing. Aromas of toasted malts, caramel, earthy and resin notes, subtle rum notes as well. Flavours are mostly caramel malt, dark fruity notes like raisins and plums. The rum is fairly subtle but still quite noticeable and doesn't become too overpowering. Some nice spices after a while and a warm slightly bitter finish. Smooth and slick mouthfeel. Pretty good overall.

Thanks to PaleAleRider for a bottle of this one, and third Innis & Gunn tonight. Pours a deep amber colour, almost copper with a big beige frothy cap, long lasting and with thicker soapy lacing. Big smoked wood aromas from the charred barrel. Some fruity malts underneath. The taste shows the burnt wood, but milder. Some prunes and other dark fruits show up. The rum is kind of inexistent, only showing off the charred barrel. Another easy-drinking brew from Innis & Gunn with the barrel character.
