Black, big brown lasting and lacing foam head. Nice coffee aroma, bitter coffee taste, some roasted nut tones. Lasting aftertaste. A very nice beer. (Houston 201505)

Sure is a beefy brew for an oatmeal based stout, but the high abv was extremely well hidden. Creamy and smooth upfront with a surprisingly dry finish. Oats, toast, nuts and a hint of chocolate are all players.

This beer was like when i last had sex.. i looked forward to it before, i enjoyed the experience during, satisfied when it was over yet sad it was finished, and i spent time in jail afterwards for sex with a minor- hence, Convict Hill....

Picked this up at Specs on Brodie Ln. yesterday. Aromas and flavors of roasted coffee, oats, alcohol, licorice and some chocolate. A rich roasted flavor and it is rather smooth. Mouthfeel is a little on the light side, but I like this one better than many other oatmeal stouts out there. Good job Independence Brew Co.
