Description A strong, malty red ale with an aromatic Cascade hop nose, red ales are becoming increasingly popular in the brewing community, as they can show off the complex malt profile of beer. It is brewed with a selection of roast barley, hops, yeast and fresh Canadian water. Food Pairing As a strong malty ale, this beer goes will with meat, game, stews and hearty dinner favorites. The noticeable hop profile in this ale allows it to stand up to spicier foods as well, such as curry and tacos. Our Bottle This re-closable bottle, known as a “pot-stopper”, was widely used in Europe and North America prior to the 1950s. Our new combination cap is an innovative design that allows closure by both crown and swing caps. It can be re-used and meets our green packaging objectives.

Added to BP 16 Feb 2010. Poured a clear ruby red beneath a head of creamy ivory. Nice nose on this one, equally hopped and malted. However, I just did not like the taste, too much malt at the outset, with a sour finish. A bad bottle, maybe?

I cannot believe I am the first to review this fantastic beer! Not my favortie Howe Sound, nor are Red Ales my beer of choice, and the circumstances in which I shared this litre of beer may be a bit biased. Snowsheing in sunshine and just below freezing temperatures, the beer was decidededly cold. What came through was amazing pine like hops, lovely and refreshing. Rounded malts that get you on the back of the tounge. A touch watery, but perhaps that dollar more per beer on average from the rest of the Howe selection gives it the extra boost most of them lack. The two I was with, and myself agree that it really gets the mucus membranes going which was not entirely enjoyable. As the beer warmed it did this less so, which was good. Altogether, I might buy 10 litres of this stuff at this price, and drink it all
