Hi-Wire’s annual spring seasonal release. Copper in color and light on the palate, Death Defying is an approachable and easy to drink Belgian ale, an appropriately timed option for those ready to unthaw from cold months and heavy dark beers. Death Defying marries the spicy and floral flavors of Styrian Golding and Czech Saaz hops with the traditional fruity flavors of Belgian yeast. This combination of flavors is balanced, as the noble hop combination doesn’t overwhelm the flavors of the Belgian yeast.

Got this during my annual beer pilgrimage to Asheville. Pours clear golden with a thick, frothy, and fairly persistent porcelain head. Aroma delivers tempting fruity (pear + banana mainly), malty and yeasty tones plus a hint of butterscotch. Flavor is more subtle than bold, but pleases with notes of banana, pear, apple, yeast, floral and butterscotch tones. Body and fizz are OK, while finish adds a bit of hops to the mix. Defy death and jump into one.
