No matter how you spell the festival of lights, Shmaltz Brewing is proud to debut its first-ever limited-edition release specifically celebrating all the miracles of the 8 crazy nights: Hanukkah, Chanukah: Pass The Beer®. 8 is a miraculous number in Jewish life. Its cultural/religious significance runs the gambit with several holidays spanning 8 days (Chanukah, Passover, Sukkot), a bris (circumcision) taking place on the newborn’s 8th day, and Seinfeld running for 8 years (for more deep shtick, see the 4-pack label listed below). The official Chosen Beer of this holiday season, Hanukkah, Chanukah: Pass The Beer® is a Dark Ale brewed with 8 malts, 8 hops, and heats up at 8% ABV.

Taps translucent honey golden with a serviceable buff head. Aroma presents nutmeg, cinnamon and cloves floating on a fresh malt undertone. Flavor continues the holiday spices and adds a little woody hops while malt plays a supporting role. Mouthfeel features decent body and lively fizz. Happy Chanukah!

This is about in line with the Hebrew family of beers. The flavor has the complexity as many of their other stronger brews, but at 8% is on the lighter side and more drinkable. Decent amount of caramel, maybe some toffee.....sweet and tart fruit. Not quite a sour, but tastes like some sort of hybrid. I am going to age my last one for a year or two.

A dark brown nearly black colored beer with a big frothy light tan head rising above. There's excellent hang time on the head. A light film and thick ringlet and persistent cap are left. A toasty and nutty malt nose with hints of caramel and chocolate. A nutty and hopped bitterness are added to that profile in the tasting. Light and creamy.
