Harvey’s of Lewes, the Sussex brewers, are about to brew their celebratory ale for the forthcoming royal wedding and it will truly be a taste of Sussex. The recipe will comprise malting barley, grown on the Duke of Norfolk’s estate in Arundel ; hops from Bodiam, Burwash, Robertsbridge and Wadhurst ; and honey from Hassocks. ’Royal Nuptial Ale’ is described as ’an ale for honeymooners - and all romantics - wherever they may be’. The inspiration for the beer came from Shakespeare’s ’A Midsummer Night’s Dream’. Head Brewer, Miles Jenner, explained " The play is set amidst royal wedding celebrations and highlights the eternal hope of romance ; Shakespeare was born on 23rd April, St. George’s Day, and his birthday celebrations precede the royal wedding by a few days. It all seemed a very natural combination." The beer will be bottled and available in mid April. A limited supply may also be available on draught.

Bottled@Mes & Sim's Wedding (thanks Ethereal!). Golden colour with a small white head. Aroma is bready malts, some fruity and floral notes along with mild dry fruits. Flavour is quite similar with also a bunch of honeylike sweetness in it.
