Brewed with 11 different malts and 6 different hop varieties, this huge Russian Imperial stout is as complex as they come. Big hop flavor and aroma that fades to clean malt with notes of chocolate, coffee, and roasty goodness. The massive amount of hops used in this beer help balance out all that malty sweetness.

Sampled a flight of 5 beers at the brewpub, brought home a growler of this. $20/64 oz. growler. Pours dark brown with a tan head, that slowly shrinks, but leaves a ring around the top of the beer. Chocolate, coffee, roasted malt, charred wood, earthy hops on the nose. The roasted malt is the dominant flavor, followed by coffee and chocolate. A bit boozy when cold, but mellows as it warms. Mouthfeel is full and velvety. This is a very nice Imperial Stout that also comes in bombers. I plan on picking up a few and aging them, as I feel that a little aging will further improve the flavor. I try to support local brewpubs and Hailstorm is my most recent find. I grabbed a t-shirt on the way out. On the front is the Hailstorm logo and on the back it says "Beer is the answer, but I can't remember the question". Clever saying and a beer worth a try.
