I didn't know buckwheat wasn't wheat. Oh well. Had a mini Greens tasting. I'd passed for a while cause these are 6.50 for 500 ml of gluten free...weirdness, as it turns out. His "Dubbel" really fell into no style. Looked like a Dubbel but had an odd sweetness above hints of belgian yeast and an even odder sour note that wasn't enough to be cool - just enough to be off.

Pours a barely translucent chocolaty brown with a thick, if not too persistent, light tan head that starts out rather fine-bubbled but ends up rather lattice-like. Aroma has fruity and caramel components and more than a hint of honey sweetness. Flavor has an interesting sweet nip and tones of caramel, honey and brown sugar with just a touch of maltiness. Texture has average body and not a lot of fizz. Overall, a decent if not outstanding brew, definitely worth sampling. Keep in mind that you need to pay close attention to the label to get the right name!
