This unique version of our monstrous Yeti Imperial Stout is aged for 9 months in Stranahan's Colorado Whiskey barrels and then bottle conditioned. The spirited aging process produces a hugely complex but mellowed Yeti, with its signature roasted flavors, hints of vanilla and oak, and a whiskey finish. Who says you can't tame a beast. 75 IBUs.

well- excited to try this, until the first pour.. has started to show signs of infection... pours black .. decent foam ,. . tar and tartness, someone mentioned cheese, i can see that too .. . probably just gonna get worse .. . but as far as infected stouts, ok .. . . i used to paint the lines for the football field, i wasn't that good at it...

pours a dark brown almost black with a small brown head which quickly disappates leaving no lacing. The aroma consists of sweet chocolate, whiskey and molasses. The taste is of roasted chocolate and whiskey. The mouthfeel is full bodied with way to little carbonation. I must point out that Porters and Stouts are my least favorite style of beer.

Fourth sample on the Friday Night Yeti tour we took in our hotel room the night before Dark Lord Day 2010. Unmistakable Yeti Stout with a soft rounded bourbon theme. Midnight colored body, large frothy head that settles to a nice quarter inch leaving some legs of lacing behind. Burnt and toasted aromas with some faint grassy hops, followed by strong chocolate, coffee and whiskey. Rich and luscious mouth feel with a nice sipping pace. Big stout flavors subdued by smooth bourbon, wood and a trace of vanilla bean. Probably my favorite of the Yeti's, although the Chocolate is a close second.

For a drink that is supposedly "mellow", I found this to be a little intence and lacking in the claimed complexity. The combination of aromas and flavors is by no means hateful, but is not on par with many other similar offerings on the market.

ok, i really gotta get my hands on a plain old Yeti. I'm intruiged, as i've now had Yeti's mellow little brother (oak) and it's rebelious older sibling, the Whiskey Barrel aged. I liked the oak, although it was so mellow, i couldn't rank it up there among the best of the impy stouts, but this one is a whole 'nother story. the jet black elixir has a massive aroma of everything from chocolate to vanilla to wood to whiskey to bitter hops to roasted malts, and the flavor is huge as well, although i was in disbelief that a beer this smooth could possibly be a 12.2% beer. I didn;t believe my friend, i had to check the label myself. Big sweetness balanced by hefty ibus...my kind of beer. among the best, if not quite at the top. (the feel was oh so close to a 10, and i wish i could give the flavor a 9.5 as well)

    Bottle #67 of 470... Opened December 6th 2008
I really Got into this one, I liked it so much because it was yeti but oh so different. Smells OF Chocolate, Roasted malt and Whiskey. Pours a Vibrant Jet black with a dark head. Full body with little carbonation but the finish was smooth and thick. Whiskey, Chocolate, Brown Sugar tones. I really Enjoyed this.. Let it aged and when you pour it LET IT BREATH...

750 ml bottle, bottle 7 / 470 - bottled 8/09. Pours a dark black/brown with a thin brown head (even after a vigorous pour) that quickly diminishes to a thin dusting.

The aroma is sweet chocolate, molasses and whiskey.

The flavor is roasted chocolate with a lot of sugary molasses. It has a bit of strong alcohol in the finish. The mouthfeel is medium to full bodied with almost no carbonation.

Overall, this is not nearly as good as the regular Yeti. It has almost no carbonation, and is overly sweet and alcoholic. I can hardly taste the hops that I'm used to in Yeti. It's a bit of a treacly alcoholic mess.
