This full-bodied ale is as bold as the lochs, hills and coastline that inspired it. Chestnut brown in colour, it is definitively malt forward, with layers of big roasted and malted barley flavours. TASTING NOTES Earthy hops with roasty, almost coffee-like aromas create a medium body and an off-dry finish. FOOD PAIRINGS Roasted and caramel malts pair perfectly with grilled, braised or roasted meats.

Overall its a decent scottich ale, with a touch of peat (it tastes fake for some reason, similar to "liquid smoke"), sweetish but this brewery seems to have a propensity for sweet brews anyways. Bit of apple, caramel, dark toffee, but all seemed to be watered down a bit. The flavours are nice, they just lack intensity, like a rainbow at dusk, nice colours, but dimmed.

A limited release from GI, for winter (just in time for Burns' Day). Pours well with a nice head, good clarity, and delicious taste. One of the better Scottish Ales, sadly only available for a few months per year. I'd drink this anytime.
