Brewed for the holiday season, our Jolly Abbot is an homage to the Trappist monks who first brewed this rich ale. Humble beginnings in Belgium inspired this recipe known for its strong malt, spice and fruit flavours. We hope you'll enjoy its deep mahogany colour and dry finish and raise a glass to the epiphany that helped create this brew in all its wonderful glory.

Finally, at long last, a GI seasonal other than Merry Monks Dopplebock that didn't blow. Pouring a clear, orange colour under a smallish tan head, I could sense a well-spiced aroma. Taste was better than okay, with spices and maybe some darkish fruits. Mouth and finish were quite decent. Not exactly a Chimay Blue, but not crap, either.
