Note: Review from notes, sampled 2/27/12. Poured four ounces into a snifter, served at 55 degrees. Bottle pour presents a vicious black with a small, carmal colored head. Massive...MASSIVE bourbon aroma along with plums, chocolate, and earthy notes. The taste...the taste is epic. Smooth as hell, with a touch of sweetness. Major vanilla notes (maybe moreso than BCBVS) along with charred oak, chocolate, tobacco, and coffee. I nursed this four ounces for almost two hours, slowly sipping to enjoy the different nuance. Age has done this one wonders as it's very smooth and pleasant. Worthy of the hype and truly top notch.

RBAG 2012. Holy fawking Vishnu what bit of awesomeness just appeared in my glass. Dark blackish brown with a ring of brown bubbles circling my glass. My glass smells like heaven, deep thick milk chocolate, massive vanilla notes, bourbon, smoke, oak. I truly don’t think a beer can smell better than this one this has blown my mind. So thick and viscous tasting this almost has the mouth feel of melted chocolate ice cream. Ash, vanilla, cherry, mild coffee the list goes on…………The chocolate is bitter but never harsh bitter. The bourbon is perfectly plate in the beer. This must be what gods cum taste like. Oily brown film is completely coating my empty glass. Best beer of the night by far.

Bottled@Yespr's blindtasting. Extremely black colour with a small brown head. Aroma is roasted malts, smoked wet wood, quite much liquorice and sweet as well. Flavour is bigtime liquorice along with some nuttyness, alcohol and some wooden and vanillaish notes. Strong, balanced and rather complex.

Exceptional - yes, worth the big boy price tag.......not in my mind. A friend was able to obtain a bottle and graciously shared not too long ago. Smooth and luscious just like all the other BCS bottles I've had. Flavorful and bold with a smoothness only found among to top tier beers within this style.

been waiting for this one and it did not disappoint. immediately upon opening the aroma burst through my congestion! i gotta try some 23 year old pappy van winkle (the barrels this was aged in). i think with a year or two on it, this could be near perfection. as it is, the bourbon is a little hot on the palte and overpowering in the flavor (it's a month old) but it's so damn tasty, you don't mind. chocolate, vanilla, oak, and a ton of gooood bourbon. if this mellows a little, it could be one of my favorites. as it is now...still elite. 10/11 still a little hot, but it hurts so good :)
