You might think this is a Russian style girly beer (a little Nabokov for you), but instead it is a very sophisticated Raspberry Belgian Ale. Fermented with brettanomyces (the little guys who give us that tart zing) and fresh raspberries, this brew is bright yet deep with spices and edges of the fruits natural tart quality to give it a white wine kind of finish.

Pinkish amber pour with a thin white head. Great aroma and flavor of raspberries and funk. Perfect carbonation makes the back of my mouth tingle from the tartness. I would love to share this with friends and family if only it weren't so expensive.

Pours clear, slightly rosy copper with a thick, though effervescent, buff head. Aroma reaches out and touches you from half a meter away, luring you in with sour apple, raspberry, and a hint of strawberry; a bit of malt and a bit of yeast rear their heads when you come closer. Flavor starts with a sour but not make-your-face-do-yoga sour core that supports raspberry, apple, yeast, banana and malt tones plus just a snip of hop bitterness. Mouthfeel pleases with firm, smooth body and lively, sassy fizz. Chase this wild goose!

Bottled on the 14th of June this year. Pours a little like red wine with not one bubble on the top. Carbonation is few and far behind. Aroma is very, very sour. Hints of fruits, wine, and oak. Taste is very dry and sour with a slight tartness. Other than that it tastes just like monks cafe but at 4 times the price. Little more fruit in this one though but you can't tell what kind. Fairly good but not 20 bucks a bottle good.

The beer pours a fairly dark, rosey amber color with fairly thin head with almost no retention or lacing. The nose is attractive and fairly complex, I pick up wine, light vinegar, cherry, raspberry , oak, tobacco humidor and vanilla. The flavor profile replicates the nose, and there's no doubt this beer delivers a considerable amount of flavor. Also, while the beer is fairly tart with some light funk, I still pick up some noticeable cherry, apple and wine. Mouthfeel is fairly full, though the beer is not at all heavy. Alcohol is well integrated into the flavor profile, though you get a sense that it's up there a bit. Overall its a very nice beer and one that grew on me as it warmed and seemed to open up.

Wish lister: Had after a relatively fresh peach sour. This was a little more understated, but he raspberry and the Belgian golden base really came through nicely in the nose. I'd go 9.5 there. It had a great upside, but perhaps two years old was a little much. It poured a little flat though I love the odd pinkish color. The feel was thicker yet somehow prickly though there were little to no bubbles. Flavor was a little more sweet raspberry than sour, but plenty of both with some light yeast and other fruit coming through as well. I the end, it had more upside than the other great sour, but more faults. Ends up about even.

Sampled at 10/13/2012 at GABF. This sour/wild ale pours a medium orange gold color from the tap. Small to medium sized white foamy head. The aroma is fruity, sweet, tart and raspberry. A medium to lighter bodied wild/sour ale. The malts are fruity and sweet. The hops are earthy. Nice fresh tart raspberry flavors. A touch of wood. Nice carbonation. Very nice beer. Like the fruit, tart and malt interaction. Mouthfeel is full and round. Finish is clean and smooth. Aftertaste is slightly tart.

Sampled with KnoxBeerCrew. Golden ruby pour with a bubbly white head, nice lacing, great carbonation. BooYah! Great nose: tons of tart and funk, like someone shoved a Sweet Tart and Fizzy up you nose then poured some 7-Up to fizz it up a bit more. Great flavor melding the funk, the tart, the sweet, the yeasts, the goodness... Fantastic linger and even better as it warms. This was my favorite beer of the tasting hands down. Thanks to JArch of KnoxBeerCrew for this sassy tart bitch.

Yeah, this is what's up..... Goose Island nailed this one. Obtained during a random day trade at the Dark Lord Festival I shared this with a friend this past weekend. Exceeded my expectations. A nice vibrant red hued body with a big white head and spotty lacing and fierce carbonation. Tart fruity aroma that immediately woke up my senses. Lively on the palate, the funky tartness is perfectly done to create a satisfying drinkable wild ale. I am going to be longing for more of this, hopefully the Goose puts it into a more obtainable rotation.
