This is an example of why I like Scottish Ales. Not everyone is good to me, but this seems all-around solid. Dark brown appearance with a semi-creamy texture and mouthfeel. Has good malt flavor, decent hop ending....aftertaste has some alcohol too it. Oddly enough, kinda tastes like....Scotch! Wanted to sample a single first, but will most likely get a 6-pack.

Geary's Wee Heavy is back and a 4-pack soon found it's way in my cellar. After a few separate tries I'm finding my way into this beer. Pours a rich mahogany almost dark brown allowing very little light to pass through. A constant 1/4" brown, bubbly head that screams "creamy" and minute amounts of lacing. Malty, malty aroma that's sweet, earthy, and peaty. Nuts and berries with biscuits and freshly buttered bread. The scent opens up greatly as it sits, warms, and breathes. I taste a considerable amount of crystal malt, lots of nutty and molasses characteristics. Rye bread, wheat bread, and hot rolls. No hops necessary, just let the creamy, thick malts roll together. A noticeable buttery flavor carries over from the aroma. Not sure if it's diacetyl or intended, either way it's somewhat suiting with the overall flavor, but it does seem a touch distracting. Creamy, filling mouth feel. Heavy malt content with a sweetened aftertaste. Overall it's a nice offering and a great change of pace from what I've been enjoying as of late.
