Western PA has a rebellious past regarding whiskey, especially rye whiskey. In honor of the brave men who stood up to the tax collector we have created Rye Rebellion, an imperial stout brewed with four types of rye and aged in rye whiskey barrels.

Trade w/ Mark. Dark ruby, towards black. Light brown lacing, lasting foam head. Strong roasted aroma, whiskey tones. Nice whiskey notes in taste, light chocolate, bitterness and reasted coffee. Decent drink. (Velp 201606)

Great looking dark body, brown frothy head and heavy lacing. Lots of roasted malt and some dark fruits. Very noticeable spicy rye that jumbles up the profile. Hints of chocolate, vanilla and wood. Medium bodied, silky with a fairly dry finish. Decent attempt, perhaps a bit too much competition among the medley of ingredients.

Beautiful brown/black appearance with a mahogany brown head that caps the beer. Nice lacing. Strong roasty aromas with alcohol present and deep spiciness. This certainly has a lot of rye. This suffers from almost too many different malt types. Notes of chocolate and roasted barley, spicy black pepper, alcohol phenols, oak, and more spice. The rye certainly takes center stage but this is 'busy'. The flavors came together a bit more as it warmed. The barrel takes a backseat.
