For Amour Fou, we look to source the most characterful, freshly emptied red wine barrels we can find. This time we truly lucked out with a lot of luscious Napa Cabernet barrels from an acclaimed winery in Oakville. After a year in oak the beer was transferred onto cherries previously used for Avalonia: Cherry for a subtle and nuanced second extraction. Bottled in May 2021, this batch was given an extended period of conditioning and maturation. Once again, Amour Fou seems to gracefully manage a number of intense qualities - the fruit, the oak, the malt-forward base beer and an expressive fermentation all blend together seamlessly while remaining present and noticeable throughout
