This sour pale ale merges different flavour profiles by blending vibrant, tropical New World hops with a lactic fermentation that brightens and transforms the hops into a juicy citrus character. Heist is also distinctive in undergoing a hot fermentation (in excess of 30 Celsius) with a family of Norwegian yeast (Kveik) only recently commercially available in North America. This lively pale ale is lightly soured and fermented with KVEIK — a family of Norwegian yeast that adds an electrifying tangerine kick. Kveik yeast ferments quickly at high temperatures. The Hornindal Kveik blend used imparts bright, citrus notes. Barley: Canadian 2 - Row, Maris Otter Wheat: Flaked Wheat Hops: Amarillo, Citra, Azacca, Ekuanot Yeast: Hornindal Kveik blend Bacteria: Lactobacillus Plantarum

The beer pours a hazed straw gold colour with a generous whire fluffy head which doesn’t last, but leaves a load of lacing around the rim. The aroma is tart citrus, stale cereal grains, and vinegar. The mouthfeel is light to medium bodied with average carbonation. The flavour is no where as tart as the aroma would suggest. There is a battle between the sweet and tart fruit notes, and the bitterness of the hops shines a bit more. -

Pours a hazy golden-yellow colour with a bubbly white cap, fizzing down averagely and leaving a few foamy spots. The sourness in the nose is well-balanced with the citrus of the brew, and hints of the hops of a Pale ale. It does seem like sea salt is in here, as in the taste. A little more sourness in the start of the flavours and citrus blends the rest. Kind of reminds me of a Gose. Just a higher alcohol content one. I really don't mind this one.
