The body on this delicious stout was soft yet firm, hard to describe but it really set up the rest of the attributes. Whiskey and granola mixed with cocoa and toffee. Vanilla pulls through while a smooth oatiness follows. Intense aroma and a well defined flavor bursting with rich malts.

Not my favorite Eclipse, but still very nice. Seems to be quite young, especially with the booziness of the nose. Chocolate abounds as usual and I like old Fitzgerald, even if it is a bit of a one trick pony. More age, or less time in barrels and this goes from very good to great. Gotta say in this instance/barrel, though, not worth the coin.

2012 Barrel #3, blue wax. Midnight black pour with minimal carbonation. Strong aromas of bourbon, unsurprising since this beer just came out of the barrel in November. Typical thin mouthfeel, a trademark of the Eclipse variants, a result of the addition of honey. Flavors of oak and vanilla accompany a pleasant chocolate aftertaste. I don't recall any other Eclipse having this nice deep chocolate tastes which makes this a nice surprise. This is not the best variant due to the relative run of the mill barrel, but I really dig the chocolate. I would buy this again and age it so the Old Fitzgerald doesn't dominate and more of the caramel and chocolate shine.
