I love you with my Stout“When I copied the famous Even More Jesus, I had to ask myself as an artist, why am I doing this? I didn’t honestly know. It was just an instinct about beer as pure form… in a sense this stout is like a metaphor for freedom - the sum of all the beauty that surrounds me and my perfect contemporary existence.” - Jeppe Jarnit-Bjergsø, Brewer and founder of Evil Twin Brewing Style: Imperial Stout Brewed:Two Roads Brewing Co ABV: 12

I picked this beer up from Eli's Provisions in Roanoke, VA. Kudos again to the evil twin! He and Mikkel are artists and they are both great stout brewers. This one is exceptional - big, heavy weight, dark as night, smells and tastes of chocolate and roasted malts. Excellent beer - in the running for best of 2015.

Pours a rich, warm coffee brown with a fairly thick tan head. Aroma has roast malt, earthy, coffee, and subtle molasses and hoppy tones. Bold flavor rolls roast coffee, smoky malt, molasses, licorice, and earthy tones across the palate, along with a strong alcohol bite. Firm, oily texture has good fizz that is not strong but persists. If you are a Stoutie, you will love this one!

Dark brown, almost black pour with a foamy, tan head. Long lasting, clinging lacing. Aromas of cocoa, roasted malt, coffee with hints of earthy hops and vanilla. Cocoa/chocolate, coffee, marshmallows, a bit of dark fruit on the tongue. I get a bit of heat on the finish, which I don't have a problem with, but one of these is about all I can handle in a night. Wonderfully thick and creamy. A real treat. The second Evil Twin beer I have tasted. Now off to explore some more. Recommended.

Not sure how this is a variation of Even More Jesus, but I'll roll w dat. Seems a little less fudge-like. Still pours like motor oil and is friggin delicious. Maybe a tiny step off, but significantly cheaper at $4 per when getting a 4-pack. Loads of roast, chococlate, bitter and sweet, licorice. Decadent beer for sure, though it never seems hot at 12%. Evil Twin sure knows how to make stouts...
