Few times in the history of craft beer it has happened that a highly praised beer rises beyond mortal stardom into a higher godly league. Usually the recipe to make such heavenly drops is thick fudge-like body, pitch black color, amazingly overwhelming aromas of chocolate, coffee, dark fruits and muscovado sugar, obviously only made in limited amounts and most crucial of all – it must taste rare!

As some serious snow moves in to my region (6-12 inches), I picked up some stouts at the local bottle shop. A dark brown pour with a dark tan head that leaves tons of lacing on the sides of my glass. Aromas of deeply roasted malt, milk chocolate, malted milk balls, coffee with a hint of vanilla. Tastes as it smell, with the chocolate and roasted malt leading the flavor parade. Alcohol is present on the back end. Mouthfeel is thick and creamy. Not overly sweet as some Imperial Stouts seem to be. Very tasty Imperial Stout. I will revisit.

Looks beautiful for a while. Black body with a brown head and oily lacing. A hint of alcohol and roasted malt aroma. Mouthfeel is oily, thick and slick. The flavour of this beer is full and almost too bold. The best way to describe it is. Quit reading reviews, get off your arse and find it.

On tap @ 10 East -
Pitch black, rich creamy head that likes to stick around awhile. Roasted malts, dark chocolate, mocha-ish aroma...also a welcomed rich roasted almond/nut like effect smelled. Thick, viscous body. Flavor was a little disappointing. A little more sweetness would have made this decadent, but it leans to the dry side. Bittersweet, dry chocolate, lots of black coffee and noticeable heat from the alcohol. Very good. -

Inky black body with a dark brown short lived cap floating on top. Smokey chocolate aroma, with a massive beast of sweetness hiding under that. Soya slightly shows after a long while of smelling. This is a massive beer, thick, chewy, and strong. The alcohol is very noticeable and gives off tons of heat. This was a poor choice for after mowing the lawn. Dam I distracted as all hell while reviewing this. Good and massive...... should buy another and save for winter!!

11.2 ounce bottle poured into a snifter - one of the prettiest looking imperial stouts with thick viscosity and a dark brown/black head. Massive roasted aromas of coffee, chocolate, figs, and charred wood. Insanely thick and creamy mouthfeel that helps hide the 12% ABV. Tons of chocolate up front with notes of cherry, applewood, brown sugar, and caramel. This is amazing. I'd love to see the malt bill that created this beast.

Rich, smoky aroma has notes of molasses, roast malt and semi-sweet chocolate with hints of quality coffee and brown sugar. It pours a rich sable no more than a kitten's whisker above jet black with a very thick and somewhat persistent dark chocolaty tan head. Lip-smacking flavor has roast malt, brown sugar, chocolate and coffee notes plus hints of fruit and caramel. It is somewhat sweet, but not overly so. Thick, rich flavor has a stabbing tingle to it, almost as if it contained some kind of hot pepper. One of the best imperial stouts I have tried.

Borders on the edge of too extreme, but styas on the right side. Great example of a beer that would have been too much at 14, 15, 16%, but at 12%, it was absolutely fabulous in every way. Dessert leaning though it not oversweet. Huge complex aroma and flavor of chocolate, cofee, dark fruit, licorice, roast...nice bittersweet aftertaste. Very vinous and thick. Even the head is dark. Awesome beer!!
