Elevation’s first barrel aged beer is made in the tradition of the farmhouse beers of the Wallonia region of Belgium. Eclectic, funky, and original this is the first beer in our Double Black Diamond Series of seasonal barrel-aged beers. The Signal de Botrange is the highest tower on the highest point in Belgium and we hope our Signal de Botrange will help elevate your perception of beer, much like the beers of Belgium did for us.

Bottle #2305. It pours a murky golden-amber body topped by a finger of off-white foam. The aromas is of white wine, oak, grassy hops, spicy yeasts, and a twinge of funky and lemon. The taste is mostly of oaked chardonnay with some mild saison yeast notes coming through every so often. The body is medium, with a light to moderate carbonation and a slightly drying finish. Overall its o.k. the wine barrel dominates the taste, so the beer doesnt really come through.

Chardonnay barreling makes this a wood and fruit (grape) forward belgian ale with pretty mellow abv and spice profile. Pretty enjoyable. Almost saison-like, but a little fruitier than most. Dry, bittersweet finish.
