Rated Feb. 2015. 10.5% AVB version poured up on tap at the brewpub where it exhibits a deep dark body that has dark mahogany edges and supports a thin tan head. The aroma offers up dark roasted malts, chocolate, chocolate malt balls and then a thin layer of yum. The taste starts bold with firm dark roasted malts to burnt and coffee and then it quickly slides into pleasing chocolate goodness and a thin sweet molasses sensation. Yum. To midway in the background lurks faint blueberry like sweet dark fruity esters that harken back to old school Russian Imperial Stouts, nice. Solid beast of a beer that makes for a terrific sipper.
