flavor has roasted toffee malts with a farmlike/hay earthyness in the background and i get notes of apple tannins. Medium bodied, its dull across the palate and a somewhat thin aftertaste. Aroma has a fruity sweetness like fig. Toffee color, a small foamy head. A slight sourness turned me off. Possibly an old bottle?

Hmm, this is why I don't read other people's reviews before writing my own. This beer is nothing special but I think it's better than what most here have said. But then again I do love this brewery so maybe I'm a bit biased. Also, in full disclosure, I'm getting over a cold so if anything my senses are a bit dulled. Oh yeah, the beer... Pours a redish brown with a decent head and a nice lace. Scent is faint (the ol' cold thing), but malty, and earthy. Taste is, well, faint as well, but earthy, almost like peat. Toasted malts are balanced with just the right amount of hops. But I agree it's nothing special. Palate is thin yet foamy. Overall, as has been stated, it's not bad but nothing special. But it's at *least* average for the style.

Lt red color, medium head. . Medium bodied ale. Malty and slightly sweet, nicely hoppy. Full flavor. Mouthfeel is full and round. Finish is crisp and clean. Smooth taste. Aftertaste is slightly bitter.
