Imperial Stout – 10,2% vol. Twice the amount of dark roasted malts used, massive Imperial stout. This is a mad one. Black brown colour with a thick and creamy tan head that can be added to as you wish if you give the bottle a swirl. Give this beer time to breathe and blossom into something truly stunning. Chocolate and alcohol are right there at the front but do not at all overpower the gorgeousness that is underneath. Full of leather, vanilla, amazing wooden notes, beautifully floral character from the hops, thick Belgian chocolate, much character. The flavour of crazy wooden tartness. An extremely bitter finish seems to come out of nowhere and is what really makes this quite unique. Superb width in the mouth and coats the whole palate beautifully.

Dark, almost black with initial purple foam head, reducing to lacing ring. Aroma is chocolate, coffee, some hay. Strong taste, dark chocolate, some oak wood tones. Bitter aftertaste, little short in time. (Velp 201401)

Wow this is quite the beer! My first De Molen, and very impressed, not to mention I was completely in the mood for this style of beer. Dark dark dark, excessively thick head, almost like guiness in a non nitro way. Big big big nose fueled by ample carbonation. Smoke, dark dark dark chocolate, coffee roasters roasting chocolaty coffee, hint of black patent, and thick thick caramel.. Theres a trend in adjectives here. Slightly bitter like dutch liquorice, sweet as is expected for the style, but not mellow.

always love De Molen, and this is up to its usual awesomeness! .. deep unconscious black .. . medium head, light sturdy lacing .. . burnt molasses, light roast, espresso grounds, and smoked dutch licorice .. . really nice stuff, would age great .. . . light the fuse and run away - you baffle me sir ..

Pours a rich, night-black sable with a VERY thick and persistent chocolaty-brown head. The sample I got fizzed as if doing so would help the Cubs win the World Series - so if you get this in a bottle, open it with care! Strong, smoky aroma has tones of sweet chocolate, quality roast coffee and molasses as well as a hint of caramel. Mouth-filling smoky flavor has tones of high-quality mocha and molasses, as well has hints of caramel and licorice. It is a bit on the sweet side, but otherwise the flavor is simply superb. Texture is thick, smooth, oily and fizzy, leaving a smoky and tingly finish. A must for all Stouties!
