Barrel-Aged Imperial Stout - 11.5 ABV - 70 IBU Bold but nuanced, an homage of sorts to the traditional Russian Imperial Stouts. Constructed with Dark Roasted Malts, malted rye, and oak-smoked wheat and then banish it for 9 months in Kentucky bourbon barrels. Tough Love is big but smooth with tender strokes of vanilla.

Faaaaaaaantastic. Took a chance on this one at $1 per ounce, but it was worth it. One of the best of a very good 2014 so far. The bottle said something to the effect of "bold, yet nuanced" and that couldn't be more accurate. Motor oil dark with nice brown head. Light smoke under dark chocolate and roasted malt, slightly spicy from the rye, and an undertone of bourbon. No one aspect took over and none was underdone. Fantastic balance.
