Coedo Shikkoku -- Fermented for an extended period of time, this dark brew boasts a stunning contrast between the glossy black tone of the beer and the smoothness of the modest pale head. This glossy black beer is called "Shikkoku" named after the famed elegant jet-black lacquer work of Japan.

Black in color, slow settling tanned foam head. Nice coffee aroma, light caramel notes. Perfect taste, like this one. Hope the other COEDO beers are similar. (Velp 201708)

Sampled on 3/31/2012. This Schwarzbier pours a medium black brown color from a 333 ml bottle. Small to medium sized white/tan foamy head, decent lacing and good retention. The aroma is roasty malts, chocolate and slightly smoky. A medium to lighter bodied Schwarzbier. The malts are chocolate, roasty malts and slightly smoky. The hops are herbal and earthy. Decent carbonation. Finishes a little sweet. Mouthfeel is full and round. Finish is clean and smooth. Aftertaste is slightly sweet.

Pours very dark with a moderate slightly tan head. Flavor is slightly sweet with lots of typical toast and bread flavors. Mouthfeel is rather silky but not sticky. One of the better "japan's" that I have come across.
