Rated 2009. Growler pour courtesy of TampaBrew. Pours deep dark sludge with lasting mocha head. Good looking brew. The aroma has chocolate, some roastiness, a touch of oak followed by fudge brownie. The taste is roasty malts running to roastier and then burnt malts. Those notes blend into rich chocolate and mild oak. By midway oak, roasty malts, black strap molasses, chocolate and a mild amount of what tastes like dark fruitiness takes this to the finish. Lingering into the after taste are thin layers of chocolate and highly roasted malts. Very little port influence from what I could tell.
