We brewed this imperial stout with Summit and Chinook hops and aged it in bourbon barrels from Heaven Hill Distilleries. After perfecting the recipe for this beer we noticed some partial bags of grains in the brewery and decided to add that to the mash. The small amounts of rye added due to this blends nicely with the bourbon since it too has rye in the grain bill. You’ll notice that this imperial stout is considerably drier than our other imperial stouts.

Rated 2016. 750ml bottle pours with a deep dark body that supports a thin mocha colored head of foam. The aroma offers up dark chocolate, dark roasted malts, sweet blueberries, sticky ripe plums and smooth bourbon blended with cake frosting. The taste delivers smooth rich near velvety dark chocolate as well as dark roasted malts and spicy black licorice all sweetened up by plums, figs and blueberry like dark fruity esters. Behind those notes lurks the sweet smooth bourbon and molasses sweetened spicy oak. Solid offering.

Pours opaque coffee brown with a nice tan head. Aroma delivers bourbon, woody, sweet molasses, roast malt and quality coffee tones - a bit over-sweet, but very good. Flavor features molasses, bourbon, woody, roast malt and coffee tones, not as sweet as the aroma. Mouthfeel offers firm, viscous body and jazzy fizz. Too bad this nameless is not endless.
