Rated in Sept. 2012. Poured up on tap at the CCB brewpub with very dark body with mahogany hues and thin tan head. The aroma is big with a lactose like note mixing dark roasted malts, rich dark chocolate and a touch of black licorice. The taste is rich with pleasing levels of dark roasted malts, nearly burnt malts, some chocolate and then a rich cherry juice nectar like quality. It then rolls into smooth sweet nectar enhanced black strap molasses. Into the finish the cherry sweetness with prune and near raisin nuances keep pace with the various malty notes to make for a pleasing “sipper” like beer experience.
